Go-Jo

Introducing Go-Jo, the solo project of the emerging pop star Marty Zambotto, Currently Sydney based, Go-Jo spent his early years living off the grid on a self-sustained property in rural western Australia (30 minutes out of Manjimup), growing their own food, with a long drop and no running water or connection to a power network, a time which Go-Jo looks back on fondly. Go-Jo's upbringing instilled in him a deep appreciation for nature, a DIY approach, and a chance to develop tastes and values free of social influences that is reflected in his music and character.

 

Go-Jo's exposure to music began at a young age, in a house that encouraged both dancing and self-expression to the hits of the 2000s while also appreciating his parents' collection of records that included many of the great singer songwriters e.g. Bob Dylan. At the age of 13, his mum (who was the frontwoman for a local rock act herself) bought him his first guitar ignited his passion for creating music on his first small stage in the family home. 

 

After eventually moving to the nearest major city (Perth WA) to take up an opportunity with the WAFL to play semi-professional football , Go-Jo was introduced to writing songs, producing, mixing, and recording, eventually saving up for his first digital audio workstation (DAW) at 16, initially producing for other vocalists before finding his own voice. 

 

Go-Jo’s music is the culmination of his appreciation for the artform of memorable songwriting, and the ability to share emotions through songs. His music is a blend of pop with influences of indie and folk music, which are underpinned by a DIY approach and a constant curiosity to develop his sound. Go-Jo is inspired by great songwriters, but he seeks to incorporate this guitar-based songwriting style into modern pop production, influenced largely by Max Martin, Shellback, Illangelo and other production masters.

 

What sets Go-Jo apart from other artists is his incredible ability to write, produce, record, mix, master and perform as an artist, whilst also having an almost innate knack for connection with fans, entertaining, and engaging with audiences both in person and online. He has championed an outside of the box approach to delivering his music to new audiences and is constantly looking for new ways to pair his catchy music with his captivating personality and personal style. 

In the last 18 months, he has toured, Australia, Europe, the US and SEA, and shared arena stages with some for the biggest artists in the world, he has viral hit songs and has had videos of his unique character circulating the globe and continues to establish himself as one of the biggest recent Australian break out acts.
